The REACT System

Post-leach slurry variability is one of the most persistent problems in rare earth pilot and demonstration plants. Inconsistent pH, solids carryover, and delayed or incomplete characterization routinely lead to failed precipitation runs, wasted reagents, and slow, risky scale-up.

Developed in Wyoming, REACT (Real-time Elemental Assay & Conditioning Technology) is a modular, skid-mounted system designed to operate between leaching and precipitation, where these problems occur.

REACT focuses on stabilizing, cleaning, and characterizing slurry before it reaches downstream separation, giving operators real-time visibility and control instead of relying on delayed lab feedback.

Core capabilities include:

• Real-time slurry monitoring using pH, turbidity, conductivity, thorium detection, and XRF-based elemental trends

• Controlled micro-dosing and reconditioning loops to stabilize off-spec slurry

• Hydrocyclone-based removal of coarse solids that interfere with downstream processing

• Modular, skid-mounted architecture designed for pilot and demonstration-scale operations

Rather than introducing new chemistry, REACT improves process control and consistency, reducing failed runs and accelerating learning during scale-up.

Pilot-Focused and Field-Ready by Design

REACT is being developed specifically for pilot and demonstration environments, where variability, uncertainty, and iteration dominate daily operations.

Current and intended use cases include:

• Rare earth pilot and demonstration plants

• Coal and fly-ash REE recovery projects

• Hybrid uranium and rare earth processing operations

Bench-scale validation and system development are underway in collaboration with Western Research Institute, with sensor development support from IXRF to ensure measurements are fit-for-purpose in slurry environments.
